IMPROVE Act
-
The IMPROVE Act, officially titled “Improving Manufacturing, Public Roads and Opportunities for a Vibrant Economy,” is a plan that was signed into law in April 2017 by Gov. Bill Haslam to update the transportation infrastructure in Tennessee by increasing fuel taxes for the first time since 1989.
-
The act increased the tax on gasoline by 7 cents and the tax on diesel by 12 cents, while decreasing various other taxes to compensate.
-
-
The act includes enabling legislation that allows local governments to pass taxes to fund transit projects.
-
The IMPROVE Act is a solution to address the pressing need for regional transit in Middle Tennessee.
The Transit Alliance is working hard to inform individuals about the local funding option while continuing our effort to educate, empower and mobilize the residents of Middle Tennessee.
